Kelly Dowd

Attorney at Law

In 2005, attorney Kelly Dowd left the “Big City” of Concord and followed his heart to Keene, New Hampshire, where he has been engaged in the practice of law in Southwestern New Hampshire ever since. His primary focus is “small-town” litigation and encompasses criminal defense, family law, appellate work, land use and zoning, as well as civil litigation.

"In each case I represent, I strive for excellence. You shouldn't have to settle for an attorney who does anything less."

Mr. Dowd graduated Magna cum Laude from Duke University with a B.S. in Physics in 1994. While at Duke, he was invited to become a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to obtain an M.A. in Theological Studies from the University of Georgia in 1996, and was admitted into Phi Kappa Phi. He later entered the University of Virginia School of Law, where he graduated in the Order of the Coif.

Mr. Dowd went to work from 2001 to 2004 with the New Hampshire Public Defender, where he represented indigent clients in criminal proceedings and juvenile delinquency proceedings. He was responsible for managing a high volume of cases. Beyond indigency, many of his clients suffered from low educational attainment, a history of childhood abuse and neglect, mental illness and substance abuse. He found success in being attuned not only to their legal issues, but also to the personal issues that arose in the course of representation. He subsequently became an associate in a large Concord law firm, before going on to practice law in Keene.
